Hi folks !
We still have the same problem with my companion's Savage - the engine runs only on choke and there is no power. What we have done so far is double-checked the fuel tap, and triple-checked the carb. We had the carb in a million pieces and everything was thoroughly cleaned and blown with compressed air... but NO ! Everything is ok, the airfilter is clean, sparkplug new, petrol is new, tank is cleaned and free of rust, any other ideas ? One thing we noticed when putting the carb together and trying it for the 3rd time was, that if you blow into the vacuum hose on the carb right side, engine all of a sudden revs and runs normally. The instant you stop blowing, it dies unless you pull out the choke... Naturally this has lead me to suggest any kinds of funny solutions like mounting a funnel on top of his helmet and lengthen the vacuum hose, but he doesn't really go for any of my suggestions. Hmm. I'm starting to suspect he has a dead rat in the muffler, like somebody said he once had. Anyway, unless you folks can come up with a better solution, the exhaust will be next on my checklist. All good things, Peter.
